Nextcloud (a fork of ownCloud) started out as a file sync app but has since branched out to other enterprise use cases via apps, ex.: mail and Video- & audio-conferencing

Similarities

  • Both are FLOSS solutions that offer features for the enterprise

Differences

  • Nextcloud (a fork of ownCloud) started as a file centric solution and progressively added more features (email, video-conference, etc.). WikiSuite started as a wiki/web page centric-solution, and added more features (file sync, video conference, email, etc.). See Files vs web pages
  • Nextcloud offers a lot of features but it doesn't have the feature scope of WikiSuite.
  • Nextcloud offers a lot of functionality via apps, while WikiSuite's philosophy is built-in but optional features: http://pluginproblems.com/Modules-Extensions
  • For file syncing as of 2019-01
    • Nextcloud is better for teams.
    • WikiSuite via Syncthing offers p2p sync
    • The WikiSuite roadmap is to build team features around Syncthing (in ClearOS and/or Tiki) to be a credible team file sharing alternative to NextCloud. Please see: Syncthing in WikiSuite
  • Nextcloud has a hosted edition, which is still lacking for WikiSuite.
