Prosody is a lightweight and flexible XMPP server written in Lua. First released in 2008, Prosody provides the backbone for real-time communication, including instant messaging, presence, and group chat, using the open XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) standard.
Designed for both simplicity and performance, Prosody is easy to configure, secure, and highly extensible through a wide range of community modules. The project is released under the MIT License.
Within WikiSuite, Prosody can provide chat, presence, and real-time collaboration services for users. With appropriate configuration (for example using Tiki's Prosody integration module or userlist bridge), it can be linked to Tiki for unified user management and authentication.
