Prosody

Prosody is a lightweight and flexible XMPP server written in Lua. It provides the backbone for real-time communication — including instant messaging, presence, and group chat — using the open XMPP (Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol) standard.

Designed for both simplicity and performance, Prosody is easy to configure, secure, and highly extensible through a wide range of community modules.

Within WikiSuite, Prosody can be used to enable chat, presence, and real-time collaboration between users, and can integrate seamlessly with Tiki for unified user management and authentication.

 Key Features
  • Lightweight, efficient, and easy to deploy
  • Secure communication using TLS and SASL authentication
  • Extensible through modules (for MUC, HTTP uploads, LDAP auth, etc.)
  • Supports federation between XMPP servers
  • Compatible with popular clients such as Converse.js, Gajim, and Dino
